Fibre broadband is also known as Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC). It passes over a fibre optic cable from the exchange to the street cabinet, and then over your copper phone line. This hybrid approach is not the same as full fibre products such as fibre to the premises (FTTP) or an Ethernet leased line. Now available to 94% of the UK, these products are excellent low cost solutions for SMEs and can also be used as a back up to a main internet service.
